Jerry David DeCicca’s latest single is an ear-catching little gem that is as smooth as it is glossy.

From his upcoming LP, New Shadows, this track features the Texas-based artist and guest vocalist Rosali (Middleman) singing poetic outlaw lyrics that hover over the wistfully sparse guitar work of Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo like a dust cloud.

The gleaming production and reserved arrangement of the song are together reminiscent of 80s Fleetwood Mac and even Prince, the latter of whom DeCicca claims directly inspired the track’s tambourine sound. However, the tune is still as fresh as ever, once again proving that DeCicca knows exactly how to create a record that exists outside of time. Check it out for yourself:

Seeing that today’s Bandcamp Friday, and also August 5th (the date the events of “Manzanita Bay” take place), be sure to preorder New Shadows today!
