The Wolf is back!

After dropping what was one of 2023’s top records, the big question was what was Prairiewolf going to do next? The trio, made up of Stefan Beck on guitars and lap steel, Jeremy Erwin on keyboards, synthesizers and mellotron and Tyler Wilcox on bass guitar, have taken the dreaminess of their warmly analog soundscapes and leaned even deeper into that vibe for their hotly anticipated follow up, Deep Time, of which you can especially hear on its first available track, “Revisionist Mystery.”

With swaying waves of woozy pedal steel, drifty guitar licks and softly intertwining beams of reverb-heavy clarinet (provided by guest Matt Loewen), this is a tune that feels as cozy and tranquil as a night spent camping in the desert under the stars (think of a scene that is similar to the record cover).

For gentle, atmospheric psychedelia that is more groove and ambience based while still maintaining a sense of clean minimalism, Deep Time is the record for you.

Co-released between Centripetal Force and Worried Songs (so you know it has to be good!), the record is available to preorder ahead of its 9/20 release date on vinyl, CD and digital. The CD copy comes with a super secret bonus disc, of which I’m very excited to check out. US shoppers should click here to preorder your copy today. (UK shoppers go here instead).
