Coinciding with the new moon and the observance of Ratni Kali Puna on Mauni Amavasya Shan, one of the four most sacred bathing days of the Maha Kumbh Mela (a significant Hindu pilgrimage), SOMA, New Jersey’s devotional band of sonic seekers, has shared a video of their new single, “Chamundaye.”

From their upcoming album, Your Soul is the Holy Sound, this track is like a whole ritual that you immediately want to take part in. With a chorus of singing bowls, trance-inducing rhythms and cyclical rounds of soulful chants that feel so good to sing along to, “Chamundaye” is a lush and cathartic listen from start to finish. The accompanying music video by Adam Worth beautifully captures the communal and colorful spirit of the song itself. Based on the strength of this one cut alone, you just know you should be excited for the rest of the new record.

Recorded in Asbury Park’s Trinity Episcopal Church, Your Soul is the Holy Sound features artwork by renowned artist, yogi and friend of the group, David V D’Andrea of Samaritan Press. The album will be made available through Samaritan Press’ website in late spring of this year, but this gorgeous video will certainly be enough to tide over fans until then.
