Curated by Lanterne Records, this is a lovingly crafted pairing of solo improvised nylon string banjo and printed poetry.

Elswyth, of whom is a London-based banjo player that breathes new life into traditional tunes and modes—both solo and as a part of the great experimental folk group, the Shovel Dance Collective—plays her instrument here with the mercurial rhythms of falling rain drops. These elegant nature-like pieces perfectly complement the words of poet CA Conrad, that can be found in the accompanying zine.

Conrad, according to the liner notes, has been described as the ‘shamanic cult hero of contemporary queer poetry,’ and has been working within the relationship of poetry and ritual since the mid-70s. Be sure to read these poems while listening intently to Elsyth’s banjo wanderings and think about how they relate, what they bring out of each other and how their combination make you feel, as you experience both together at once.
