For those in need of primal acid rock heaviness, seek no further than The Weightless Sea, by Spiral Wave Nomads.
Made up of Eric Hardiman (Sky Furrows) on guitar, bass, synths and electronics and drummer Michael Kiefer (More Klementines), this explosive duo stirs up a howling hurricane of feedback and distortion, and sets it all to a driving beat.
With moments like the revved up shoegaze banger that is “I am Here” and the thunderous sonic maelstrom of “Truths that Lie Within,” the band rips with the power and intensity of a stoner post-rock band three times it’s size. Tracks like “Materialized” and the aforementioned “Truths that Lie Within” slam and quake like Bardo Pond jamming with Earthless. Meanwhile, other cuts, like “Interrupted Dream,” are softer, but certainly no less spacey nor fierce.
This record is without a doubt an enchanting dedication to volume, with solid wall of crashing sound erupting from your speakers like distorted tidal waves.
