While we might not hear the sound of grunge rock much in 2019, Neverlanded proves that it can actually not only be surprisingly fresh, but also entirely welcomed.
This London power trio channels the angst-ridden misfit spirit of the cream of the early ’90s crop, like Soundgarden, L7 and Alice in Chains, and evolves it into an anthemic vibe for the misunderstood, underrepresented and the marginalized of our modern era. So it’s incredibly uplifting to find that this, their debut EP, is being given away for free to anyone who donates to the MermaidsUK charity organization.
Across the four-track EP, sludgy guitars and cathartically striking vocals drive the emotional core of each song straight into your heart, while the chugging rhythms will surely make you want to headbang along and dive into the nearest moshpit. Crank up “Scream4icecream,” and you’ll totally know what I mean.
If you’re a fan of classic Nirvana, The Breeders and Mother Love Bone, then you really should grab this EP fast (especially since it would support such a great cause!)
