The Bela Lugossips – Dark

, a1311587415_16

The Bela Lugossips’ ‘Dark’ is as piercing as a set of fangs and is cold as death.

This psychedelic Mexico City-dwelling band takes trembling walls of guitar haze and sharp reverberating vocals, and creates mesmerizing nuggets with them that will haunt you like half-faded memories of a bad trip.

On this track, a single from their upcoming album, the band goes full psych-goth. They combine here the macabre garage strut of groups like The Seeds with the hypnotic salaciousness of ‘Sister Ray’-era Velvets, along with the hallucinatory rush of Spacemen 3.

All throughout the song, meandering vocals chant and quiver through both stereo channels, making you feel as though the band is surrounding you on all sides, waiting to strike at any moment. Aspects like this and the drummer’s motorik beat give the track a claustrophobic and spectral thrill. If you ever take a tab and wander through a cemetery, this is the kind of music that you might need.

If you enjoyed bands like New Aura, Los Mundos and Possum (all RCU veterans), then I think you would love ‘Dark.’ Give it a listen below:
