John Andrews & The Yawns – “New California Blue”

Woodsist Records announced today the upcoming release of John Andrews & The Yawns’ third album, Cookbook.

Coming out on May 14th, this record is a collection of laidback melodies that are as tranquil and charming as a sunny spring day. Boasting sweet harmonies, Rhodes and acoustic and nylon stringed guitars sashaying over brushed drums, it’s easy to hear this record and be reminded of the likes of Michael Hurley, Vetiver and Astrud Gilberto.

Along with the announcement, Andrews dropped the record’s first single, a breezy folk-pop tribute to Joni Mitchell called “New California Blue.” Check out its video (shot by Ty Ueda) below:
