Sophia Knapp & Dungen – “Desert Moon”

Sophia Knapp and Dungen’s new collaboration, “Desert Moon,” hits like a burst of sunlight (or in this case, moonlight) shooting through a dark cloud bank.

Knapp composed this upbeat track while gazing at a rising October moon at Joshua Tree, as the natural magic of the scene filled her with the dreamy sense of yearning that comes through so eloquently in the lyrics.

She delivers these vividly romantic lines with a voice like a young Emmylou Harris, while Swedish psych-rockers Dungen supports it with a lush, psychedelically pastoral backing. Soaring fiddles, chiming guitars and rolling drums swell and burst behind Knapp’s charming vocals like a crashing tidal wave of total euphoria.
