Record Crates United proudly presents acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, Joseph Allred, the ethereal folk stylings of singer-songwriter Allysen Callery and NJ’s own genre-hopping Cosmic Karma Collective.
Joseph Allred’s music touches on a plethora of diverse influences, including everything from solo fingerstyle guitar to southern hymnals and even Arabic oud improvisations. The worlds of folklore, old religion and nature collide into a beautifully kaleidoscopic array of deeply moving, earthen sounds.
Allysen Callery’s unique style harkens back to the British folk revival artists of the ‘60s and ‘70s, like Sandy Denny and Pentangle, as well as the haunting atmospheres of old New England. Her music is dreamlike and oftentimes mysterious—perfect listening for sitting in a garden.
Cosmic Karma Collective is one of New Jersey’s most unique jam bands, as they discovered where the worlds of Chick Corea, the Grateful Dead and Bela Fleck overlap, and found a way to make those jazzy folk-rock grooves danceable. What better way to close out the evening?
