This is a deep zoner for all of the ambient guitar fans.
With this record, the New England-dwelling astral guitarist, Matt LaJoie, concludes his five-album, element-themed arc that began with 2019’s The Center and The Fringe. This final entry in the series is dedicated to and inspired by the wind element. The looseness of its three improv-based tracks, with their display of grand subtlety and weightlessness, truly brings to mind the free-flowing movements of air in all kinds of environments.
The sound on this LP is exceedingly positive. It’s a dazzling and bright production, with flowering sparks of light erupting with every guitar note. With a trove of effects that make LaJoie’s guitar do everything from slowly revolve around the listener like a cyclone to playing backwards, this is perhaps one of the most psychedelic entries in the album arc.
If you’re in a funk and you need to let yourself drift away on a sonic dreamscape, then go no further. This is the record for you. Pick up your copy of On Garudan Wing today.
