North Carolina-based psychedelic artist, Jphono1, gave us a little sample today of what to expect from his upcoming LP, We All Belong to Something Else, by releasing a colorfully abstract video for the record’s leading single, “Switchblade Comb.”

The track, much like many of the other cuts from the album, reflects how well Jphono1—real name John Harrison—can write a damn good song that moves you while still being deeply heady and unquestionably cosmic.

On “Switchblade Comb,” Harrison, of whom also jams out in the kosmische duo, Tacoma Park, employs waves of astral pedal steel, dreamy guitar solos and babbling synthesizers that all drift hazily over a hypnotic beat. These spacey elements help to greatly emphasize Harrison’s poetic lyrics by grounding them in a naturally ethereal environment.

The song’s pulsating, amoeba-like video, created by Kellen Smith, does much of the same, in a spectacularly vivid way. Check it out:
