Speak, Moment brings together three giants of modern improv music: Dave Harrington, Max Jaffe and Patrick Shiroishi. Perhaps unsurprisingly, on this, their first ever jam session, they struck pure sonic magic immediately.

With Shiroishi on saxophones, bells and tambourine, Harrington on guitar and electronics and Jaffe manning the drum kit, sensory percussion and other effects, the three artists beautifully meld together their various different styles and approaches into a kaleidoscopic and cohesive mandala of progressive grooves.

For a recording session that took place over a single afternoon, the trio truly impress by charging blindly into a sea of possibilities without a plan beyond just trusting and listening to each other as they set forth. Landing upon zones that float somewhere between the realms of serene spiritual jazz and feral acid jazz, Harrington, Shiroishi and Jaffe display exactly why they’re amongst the best in their respective fields. They also prove what harmony and beautiful discourse could bloom when people, especially artists, are attentive to one another.
