A cinematic blend of spiritual jazz, ambient folk and improvised New Age music awaits you on For Damage, by Yaryu.

Yaryu is a Japanese collective that was initially formed in 2022 to bring music and people together in their everyday environments through improvisational music workshops. The workshops feature both novice and well-experienced musicians and they focus on creating a grand musical expression communally through performance, rather than focusing on the skills of an individual.

Yaryu started as a duo, with Hajime Orikawa on Indian flute and harp, Hyozo (of De Lorians) on keyboardist harp Hyozo (De Lorians) and Indian flute/harpist. On this particular album, the collective includes Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple), Shota Mizuno (Sunday & Cybele) and Takuro Okada (Carlos Niño, Sam Gendel, Nels Cline), among many others.

For Damage is a healing and enchanting listen, bridging together the vibes of artists like Alice Coltrane with the ethereal acid folk of artists like Dire Wolves and Fursaxa. For a taste of this unique combination of sounds, try out the title cut:

For Damage will be available through Centripetal Force in North America, Cardinal Fuzz in the UK (preorders start 10/4), and Ramble Records for Australian music lovers.
