Seeing that it’s still spring, it’s nice to have an album that feels and sounds like someone shaking off the cold shackles of winter and growing anew in the warm sun. Meteor Infant’s Pilliga Circumstance is one of those records.

Meteor Infant is the songwriting outlet for Gomeroi Indigenous Australian guitarist Liam Keenan, who connects his music to his memories and ancestral ties to the rural landscape of his home. With gentle acoustic fingerpicking, gliding sweet harmonies and a reverb-kissed openness that gives his songs a wide sense of space, Keenan makes you feel like he’s taking you into his own private world. There’s such an intimate closeness on this album, even in its instrumental guitar pieces, it’s like he’s playing just for you.

Fans of Donovan Quinn, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake would find a lot to love here. The latter of which you can certainly feel the touch of in the album’s first released cut, “Lagoon.” Check it out:
