Roaring straight out of Chicago, Free Times’ latest is a straight up party of a record.

Available now on CD, tape and digital, Of All Times features the midwestern psych unit ripping up refried cosmic boogies, stoned Americana post-rock jams and revved-up motorik freak outs. Recorded with the warm hum of analogue tape, this is a raw and utterly singed session that shows just how wild, heavy and tight this band can really be.

On songs like the opening cut, “Earthquake,” Free Times plays a rabid funk groove with a ferocious energy, mutating it into a frenzy of wah-wah, sax and syncopated double guitars. This is wired, adrenaline-fueled choogle that twists into a totally unique beast. Then, on cuts like the epic title track, the band leans into the jam and sprawls out, taking their time to build up the tension and intensity until it absolutely erupts into a cataclysm of wild riffage, explosive drums and shrieking distortion. Clocking in at 13 hazy minutes, this is a monster of a song that absolutely growls with fuzz and feedback. Despite this lenghty run time, you just know that the band could easily stretch this piece out on stage twice as long while still maintaining the same fiery, exciting energy. If you ever get a chance to see these guys perform live, remember this track and grab that ticket fast.

If you ever wanted to hear what a band might sound like in the center of a Television, Spacemen 3 and Garcia Peoples Venn Diagram, then this record might be it. Grab your copy today and find out for yourself.
