It’s been a minute since we last heard from jazz guitarist Brad Farberman and his experimental jazz-funk band, Middle Blue, but as you’ll hear on this new Island House Recordings release, it was indeed very much worth the wait.

Available today on cassette and digital, Let’s Name a Star on Friday Night is a supremely fun jam record with a bright insatiable energy and heaps of swagger. The album bops with vivacious beats, squealing, honking sax, stanky bass lines and fat wah-wah drenched guitar lines. On tracks like the title cut, soaring melodic clarinets shines side by side with some dirty sax solos, slick drumming and deliciously warped rhythm guitar. As soon as the funky groove of this song catches your ear, it does not let go.

This is jazz that is guaranteed for good times. Put this album on when you have company over, and the mood will stay highly elevated til you reach the end…before you inevitably flip the tape over and replay it again and again.

If you’re a fan of Joe McPhee, Bobbi Humphrey and Herbie Mann’s work with Sonny Sharrock, then just click here right now to get your copy of this total blast of a record today.
