The good folks at Centripetal Force Records are doing the lord’s work by bringing the world
Retreat Into Fantasy Soundtracks, by downtempo post-rock wizard, Wasted Cathedral, and Earthing, by the renowned ambient family band, TENGGER.

Wasted Cathedral, a solo side-project of Canadian musician Christopher Laramee (from Shooting Guns, The Radiation Flowers and The Switching Yard), is known for creating looping samples and spliced melodies, and then distorting them into living alien soundscapes. That’s exactly what he does here, but this time, he aimed to develop a vibe that is akin to a tense and surreal ’70s movie soundtrack.

This certainly comes through in the breakbeat-laden lo-fi jazz funk “Decadent Ambient,” which feels pulled right out of a grainy, hard boiled B-grade detective flick. Check it out:

Can’t you just see the porn mustaches, cheap polyester suites and used ’71 Pontiac LeMans when you hear this track?

You can click here to preorder your copy of Retreat Into Fantasy Soundtrack ahead of its October 21st release. This record will also be available to the UK and Europe through Cardinal Fuzz, and in Canada through NoiseAgonyMayhem.

TENGGER, meanwhile, produces calming minimalist ambient music that sweeps over you with its elemental chill.

The group, which is made up of Pan-Asian couple, ITTA (from South Korea) and MARQIDO (from Japan), and their young son RAAI (while performing on stage), recorded this album from their home studio in the Korean highlands during the 2021-end of the pandemic.

The healing and meditative sound on this album was directly inspired by the notion that all life on earth is connected. TENGGER spent a great deal of the pandemic outside in remote natural areas, like mountain trails, beaches and waterfalls, so it’s no surprise that they came out of the COVID cloud with this mindset.

Just listen to the purifying sound of “Sairo,” and you’ ll also feel ready to live in the now and notice your connection to the heartbeat of life around you:

Click here to preorder Earthing today. before its October 21st drop. If you live in the UK/Europe, you can also get your copy through Cardinal Fuzz, and if you’re in Australia, Ramble Records has got you covered.
