My Body, ‘Tis of Thee II

If you’re going to buy any album on Bandcamp Friday this week, be sure to make it Centripetal Force’s abortion rights benefit record, My Body, ‘Tis of Thee II.

The good heads at Nashville’s great Centripetal Force label put together this cracking collection of songs to aid Shout Your Abortion, an organization that works to normalize abortion and elevate safe routes to access, regardless of legality.

With previously unreleased tracks from a diverse selection of styles and genres inspired by the striking down of Roe v. Wade, including works by familiar names like Eve Maret, Elkhorn and Jeffrey Alexander, this album is a cathartic, motivating and also entertaining listen. Songs like the frosty “Love for Sister” by psych-folk/experimental artist Tekla Peterson (a new project from Spires that in the Sunset Rise’s Taralie Peterson) and Joseph Allred’s breathtaking “No Words” move you and speak to you on a deeply human and visceral level. The album is both a rally cry and a balm to aid all those in need of healing in the wake of this misguided supreme court ruling.

While Bandcamp waives its fees once again today, please consider buying this album so every cent you give will go directly to Shout Your Abortion. Click here to buy the album and here to learn more about SYA.
