I’m still playing catch up with the records that have moved me as of late, and today I wanted to highlight the soothing collaboration between Rootless and Starbirthed.

Recorded initially in 2019 at the Vermont cabin owned by Rootless (Jeremy Hurewitz), this dreamy slice of rural guitar psychedelia finds the ambient soundscaper blending his unique style seamlessly into the sonic astral meditations of the now defunct New England-based Starbirthed (Ash Brooks and Matt LaJoie).

Across five lengthy jams, the trio glides through celestial pools of atmospheric synths with intertwining veins of sparkling guitar (acoustic and electric), breathy vocalizations and mystical effects. The album as a whole feels like a slowly coasting river of healing, pleasant vibrations, reflecting the very essence of the serene rural setting in which it was recorded in. If you’re in need of a relaxing listen, tune everything else out, put this album on, and let it gently carry you into deeply restful zones.
