Well folks, it’s officially 40 days until Record Store Day 2013! It’s quite easily one of the best days for collectors of records and all music in general, and is certainly my favorite day of the year .
So to get extra pumped up for this year’s installment, I’m tracking down documentaries, short films, clips and news spots about two of my all time favorite subjects: record stores and record collecting.
For my first entry in this series of posts, I’ve chosen Re-Vinylized. Directed by John Boston, this 30 minute documentary focuses on why records and independent record stores are so loved. It features some great, telling interviews with store owners and customers about the fall and rise of the record store and their own feelings about the black plastic disc.
One of the highlights from this doc for me is when some of the store owners talk about their holy grail records. I don’t want to ruin a great surprise, but thank god one of these finds has an audio clip from it featured in the film.
Well, check this awesome clip out and keep an eye out for the future videos that I will be posting soon. Keep vinyl alive!
